Historical Ball!

I spent yesterday with some of my favorite people in the whole world! To celebrate my best friend Elise's 18th birthday, we went to a historical ball. It was so much fun! We got there in the morning, and they taught us the dances. (Pride & Prejudice kind of dances.) That lasted for 2 hours, and then we had a picnic at a park and went shopping. We got back to the church at 4:30 to get ready. The ball was so much fun! I'm not a great dancer, but I didn't have much trouble. They were such pretty dances! Even if you weren't that good at it you felt so graceful. I wish people danced like that now. I loved seeing what everyone else was wearing! You could come dressed in something from any time period between Medieval and World War 2. My dress was medieval. We got the dark purple velvet part at the thrift store, and Mom made the white part to go underneath. I loved it! I'd always wanted a dress with sleeves like that. I danced probably half the dances with guys, but there weren't quite enough guys to go around, and some of them just stood around talking. I was a bit nervous at first, but I had so much fun! We all did. After it was over, we spent the night with Elise. Here are some pictures!

Mom made my headdress too! It has a sash in the back.

I love this post! Your mom did a great job on your costume! Thank you for sharing those awesome pictures. What fun. :)

My youngest & I, along with a friend, attended a colonial ball at the Governor's Palace in Colonial Williamsburg a few years ago. We had the best time. Also, we used to participate in historic reenactments..learned a lot of history that you don't get from books and had such a good time, too.
